Peter Stone

Foundation Governor

I have been in education all my working life. My wife and I moved to Eastbourne in May and having joined St John’s church, gravitating to the school seemed a natural step. I have been very impressed by the school’s busy, caring, friendly atmosphere and its clear Christian ethos – something of great importance to me. I have taught in both the state and independent sectors and have been a head teacher as well as a governor of three schools in the Bath area. I have also worked as an examiner and test developer and I hope that my experience will contribute to the school’s governance. I certainly intend to become involved in the life of the school.
My wife and I have four children and four grandchildren (two in Brighton and two in Sydney); fortunately our Australian grandsons have inherited my love of cricket. I know that Education is a serious business but it should also be fun!
