Year 2

Robert Newlands

It’s hard to believe that it is now my sixth year here at St John’s, it has gone incredibly quickly! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at St John’s as it is a fantastic place to work. All staff are motivated to ensure the best quality education and excellent opportunities for all the children who attend the school.

I am currently the Science and Computing coordinators and I am looking forward to continuing to develop the subjects.  They are both passions of mine and they are such important subjects in today’s society.

When not in school, I enjoy going to the gym and leading a healthy lifestyle. I pride myself in eating healthily and I hope that my good habits can rub off on others!

It’s hard to believe I’m now in my 15th year of teaching!

Working at St. John’s Meads is such a privilege. The strong Christian Ethos of the School is driven by our Rainbow Values, which really help to provide a creative and fulfilling environment full of awe and wonder with happy learners who can reach their full potential.

Over my time at St. John’s Meads I have led the school in many curriculum areas from PE to Literacy, RE and PSHEe. Much of my time has been spent developing the Early Years Foundation Stage before I took a short break to have my two little girls.

When I’m not in school I love to dance, visit the theatre- particularly enjoying musicals and going for long walks with my family, making the most of the beautiful seaside town we live in. I am also out and about in the community supporting new parents and running baby and toddler development classes.

I believe that the Early Years of a child’s life lay the foundation for all that their futures may bring and hope to deliver my passion and dedication to the firm foundations of childhood development through my teaching in Year 2 this year. I look forward to working with Mr Newlands as we guide the children in the final steps of their Key Stage One journey and prepare them for the Junior years ahead.
